Rain from overnight has ended across most of the island with sunshine returning before noontime. Rain totals reached about 0.25 inches in Nassau County, but official totals were only 0.03 of an inch in Islip, which is where we officially keep track of weather records for Long Island.
Today's primary concern will be the wind. Although sunshine will return with highs near 50, it will feel cold with wind gusts possibly more than 40mph this afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook and Gale Warning because of the wind today.
