Some Brooklyn residents fear the personal information of some students may be in jeopardy.
A woman found several boxes with student information on the corner of Berriman Street and Wortman Avenue in East New York. The woman says the boxes were filled with testing booklets and papers dated February 2004. Several papers listed students? birthdates and parents? names. Address labels with eight-digit codes were also found inside the boxes.
The woman who found the boxes told a neighbor, who then called parents. Now, parents are demanding to know why the information in the boxes wasn?t properly discarded or destroyed. The Department of Education says it will look into the issue.
