A 39-year-old woman in Bedford–Stuyvesant is lucky to be alive after her purse miraculously stopped a bullet a carjacker fired at her.
Police say the woman was loading luggage into her Jeep early Thursday morning when a man pulled a gun on her - demanding her keys.
The woman fought back. Then, police say the suspect, 52-year-old Victor Walker, fired a shot at her, which ended up lodged in her purse.
Walker then pistol whipped her, snatched her keys, and sped away.
Police caught Walker four miles away. He's now facing attempted murder and other charges. The woman was taken to the hospital where she needed stitches in her head.
