Of course, Brooklyn plays its own special role in hot dog history as home to Nathan's Famous in Coney Island and its annual Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest. 
Many Brooklyn hot dog fanatics even have strong opinions about what should go on top of their hot dog, whether its mustard, relish or even bacon. 
News 12 hit the streets to talk about favorite toppings, and sauerkraut came up as among the most popular.
