Some city businesses are now banning customers wearing hoodies from coming inside.
At least three stores along Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem have signs in their windows forbidding customers from wearing hoodies or masks. Supporters say this will deter crime.
Many Brooklyn residents tell News 12 Brooklyn that they are against the policy, saying shoppers should not be discriminated because of how they are dressed. Those in favor of the policy say store owners should be able to ask nicely if shoppers could not wear hoodies in their stores.
