A debate is underway in Washington, D.C. after 6- and 10-year-old boys were picked up by police for walking without the company of an adult.
The childrens' parents had allegedly signed a form allowing them to walk alone, but they are now being questioned by Child Protective Services.
News 12 Brooklyn took to the streets to find out what age parents think is appropriate for their children to walk home from school by themselves.
Residents think a range of ages would be appropriate, saying ages between 10 and 16 should be old enough. One person says the age depends on the child and their parents, as everyone differs when it comes to responsibility.
