Summer softball took on a new meaning Saturday as the United States Military battled it out against New York City's bravest and finest.
Brooklyn welcomed the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team for their first-ever game in New York City at Shore Road Park. The Wounded Warriors are an organization of soldiers who were injured during service to our country, and many of them are living with amputated limbs from battle.
They say their mission is to raise awareness and support for the sacrifices of our military. Their motto is, "Life without limbs is limitless."
The group played a doubleheader against Bay Ridge teams including NYPD and FDNY members. They say their players fly in from all around the country to play about 100 games a year wherever and whenever they can.
