Construction of the new Metro-North station near the new Yankee Stadium is currently right on track for an April 2009 opening.
The station opening will coincide with the beginning of the Yankees season in their new ballpark. The station is expected to see 10,000 riders from all over the tri-state area.
Bronx residents have expressed concerns about ticket pricing, which has not yet been determined. Local Metro-North lines in the area are $6.50 for peak times and $5.00 for off-peak times. A public hearing will be held to decide the fare rates at the station on Nov. 17 at 1-98 East 161st St. starting at 6 p.m.
