The Bronx Bombers christened their new stadium Friday night by defeating the Cubs 7-4 in an exhibition game.
Despite a rainy start to the day, the fans came out in droves to witness the historic moment, and later flocked to the Yankees' memorabilia store to stock up on jerseys and hats.
The new Hard Rock Café was also packed, but not all local business owners are optimistic about the upcoming baseball season, with the new restaurants opening up. Some neighborhood vendors say the set up of the new stadium could drive business away from their shops.
"That's going impact, the routing of the trains right into the new stadium," says vendor Mark Wagner.
