Children with autism and their families enjoyed a day of fitness and fun outdoors on Sunday

The nonprofit group "Smart Fit Fam" organized a family yoga day for kids with autism at Marine Park.

The group say that many kids with autism have a difficult time with physical activity, so the gentle movements of yoga help them stay active.

Many children with autism also prefer to stay indoors with electronics because it is difficult for them to interact with others, so the event helps them socialize outdoors and in a safe, friendly environment.

The organization will soon be holding a workshop on preventing bullying and encouraging healthy eating for kids on the spectrum.
