An event was held Sunday for young residents with special needs as part of a tech session to help them be good digital citizens.
The group of 50 gathered at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering for the Stand Up For The Internet Hackathon.
The event was hosted by Tech Kids Unlimited and helped young people 14 to 21 with learning and emotional disabilities tackle tech issues, including privacy, net neutrality and digital citizenship.
The Hackathon was started by Tech Kids Unlimited founder Beth Rosenberg and her son, Jack, who has special needs.
The event gave the students experience using various software to design web pages, code games and create graphics.
Everyone who participated in the event received a digital citizen participation trophy.
