Two women are in critical condition following a high-speed chase that ended with a car accident in The Bronx early Sunday morning.
According to authorities, 37-year-old Daniel Straker was arrested after stealing a car in Pelham Manor. They say he was driving drunk when he struck a Sedan carrying the women at Boston Road and Marolla Place in Baychester.
Officials say that the driver of the sedan, Valerie Eubank, was giving a lift to her co-worker, Shirley Scott. Both were on their way to work at the Bay Park Nursing Center in Co-op City Sunday morning.
Straker is an ex-convict who was arrested for murder in 1994, and for drug possession and assault in 2009. He's now facing several more charges, including aggravated vehicular assault, unlicensed operation of a vehicle and driving under the influence.
A spokesperson from Jacobi Medical Center says Eubank is in serious condition and Scott is in critical condition.
