A former NYPD sergeant accused of falsely claiming to be an ICE official is expected to appear in federal court Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Atickul Islam claimed he was the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s New York Field Office last year.
Court records say he contacted a victim and demanded their family report to an ICE location in New York City.
He was arrested last year and is currently out on bond.
He retired from the NYPD five days ago.
