Beacon police identified the woman who fell into Fishkill Creek and died on Tuesday evening as 42-year-old Sukanya Basu.
They say an initial witness account described someone photographing Basu along the creek just before she fell down backwards a 15-foot embankment.
Police say she was unconscious when firefighters found her.
She died a short time later at the hospital.
