The FDNY and NYPD are responding to reports of a person in the water off Coney Island for a person in the water.
Chopper 12 was over the scene between West 22nd Street off of Surf Avenue. FDNY divers were in the water, and crews were in rescue boats.
The New York City Parks Department provided a statement in response to the incident:
"Parks Lifeguards along with NYPD and FDNY are actively searching for a 15-year-old male who went missing in Coney Island today after swimming in a closed section of beach. We are hopeful that the young man will be recovered."
The Parks Department confirm that lifeguards were alerted around 12:30 p.m. to two missing swimmers on a closed section of beach around West 23rd Street in Coney Island.
They say that one of the swimmers, a 16-year-old male, was removed from the water by a patron and is conscious and stable. A search is underway for a second 15-year-old male.

Parks Department officials also told News 12 that the area of the beach where the search took place was covered in red flags that indicate a no-swimming zone.
Resident Fernando Agurto was at the scene when the incident took place.
"I heard screaming and screaming, the mother, the aunt, everybody... I hope they find him soon because it's been quite a while," said Agurto. "I wish we could have saved him."
