ACC: NYC’s shelter dog population highest in over a decade

The ACC is incentivizing New Yorkers to adopt by offering the first vet visit for free if adopters bring their pups to any VCA hospital in the city.

The Animal Care Centers of New York City says its shelter dog population is the highest the group has seen in over 10 years.

They say that in 2024 so far, over 1,000 dogs have come to them either as strays or because they were given up by their owners.

The ACC is incentivizing New Yorkers to adopt by offering the first vet visit for free if adopters bring their pups to any VCA hospital in the city.
