People living in the Park Avenue neighborhood of Spring Valley say they are haunted by the images they saw over the weekend.

The body of a man police describe as between the ages of 27 and 34 was discovered under a white pick-up truck early Saturday morning in a parking lot next to apartments at 18 Park Avenue.

News 12 spoke to the owner of the truck, who didn’t want to give his name but said he discovered the body when he came outside for work around 7 a.m. He said, “I’ve never seen anything like it, and I haven’t been able to sleep since.” He also told News 12 there was blood on the outside of his truck and that it appeared someone may have tried to put the victim inside the truck.

Police have not released the identity of the victim and say there is no indication the truck was involved in the man’s death.

Neighbors say they saw tire marks and blood in the streets. One woman told News 12, “I saw the body under the truck. I saw that it was a male; you could see the sneakers, you could see the face, you could see the hair, and it’s really traumatic.”

Ramapo police officials say the circumstances surrounding the death remain under active investigation. Members of their Investigations Unit, along with crash investigators and accident reconstruction personnel, are actively working to determine the facts and circumstances of the incident.

In addition, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, the Spring Valley Police Department, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, and other law enforcement partners are also working on the case.
