Thousands of costume-wearing children packed the streets of Bay Ridge Saturday for the annual "Ragamuffin Parade."
The event, now in its 48th year, began as the first parade solely devoted to children in New York City.
Organizers say seeing the smiles on all the kids' faces make the entire experience worthwhile.
Organizers also say the parade offers a safe alternative to trick-or-treating on Halloween.
