New Yorkers say they are worried about their daily commute. Transit crime is up 13% from last year, according to NYPD crime stats.
This past Sunday, a 64-year-old man was assaulted at the 34th and Eighth Avenue subway station in Manhattan.  The NYPD says the man was waiting for the C/E train on the northbound platform shortly before 5 p.m.  Police say he was approached by a man who said something to him and then kicked him - causing him to fall onto the tracks.  He was transported to Lenox Healthplex for treatment.
Gov. Kathy Hochul will be addressing this crime spike later this week.  The Metropolitan Transit Authority says it is working on it.
“We’re working very closely with the New York City police department day and night to make sure the system is safe, and we’re going to continue to do so.  We closely with City Hall and the governor's office.  We’re very focused on this, as we have been,” the MTA’s John McCarthy said at a recent news conference.
Police are hoping you can identify the assault suspect.  Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $3,500, and you can call your confidential tips into 1-800- 577-TIPS.
