New York Attorney General Letitia James released new body-worn camera footage of a deadly police involved shooting in Canarsie.
Jumaane Wright, 28, of Pennsylvania, was shot on April 29 on the Belt Parkway near Rockaway Parkway.
Officer Henn’s footage shows him directing nearby cars to turn off their engines at a roadblock officers set up after Wright fled an initial traffic stop. Wright, driving a Porsche, comes speeding toward him and the other officers, nearly striking one of them.
Officials say an officer discharged one bullet and struck Wright, who proceeded one more exit to Pennsylvania Avenue and struck an NYPD vehicle.
Police say Wright was initially pulled over after officers discovered the Porsche he was driving was equipped with stolen plates.
The passenger in the vehicle was apprehended, and officers tried to perform lifesaving measures on Wright, who was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he died.
Wright was on federal probation for interstate transport of stolen vehicles out of Pennsylvania, according to the NYPD.
The AG’s body-camera footage release is part of her ongoing investigation into the shooting.
