Cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke, is the No. 1 cause of death for men and women in this country -- more deadly than all cancers combined.
An early screening procedure can detect problems before they threaten lives. It’s known as an AngioScreen, and for the next month, Hackensack Meridian Health Centers in the Central Jersey region are offering it to people for just $50.
The simple 15-minute noninvasive procedure can identify the warning signs.
“AngioScreen is a program where we look for evidence of coronary artery disease, markers of overall body health, to educate the patient, educate the physicians in terms of what’s going on with your health,” says interventional cardiologist Dr. Danaiel Kiss.
It's a simple ultrasound in which the technicians look at your arteries in your neck, abdomen and ankles for signs of blockage.
“There’s your carotid artery, next to it is your jugular vein, ideally the healthy artery looks like a hollow black tube and that’s what we are seeing here today,” says Kiss.
