Business owners on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill say they're thrilled that a parking rule that was in effect for nearly 20 years is now history. Merchants between Smith Street and Third Avenue along Atlantic Avenue say afternoon parking restrictions on their block had resulted in constant fines and towing incidents. They also say the parking rules scared away customers and put a big damper on sales. After years of asking the city to allow parking on the strip, the Department of Transportation has lifted the parking restrictions. Customers can now park in roughly 100 spaces.
