Authorities: Sing Sing correctional officer seriously injured in inmate attack

The inmate, serving a two-to-four-year sentence for criminal possession of a weapon, was transferred to Coxsackie Correctional Facility.

A correctional officer at Sing Sing Correctional Facility was seriously injured by an inmate on Tuesday during a return to cells, authorities say.
The inmate allegedly punched the officer, threw him down stairs and continued assaulting.
Additional staff intervened and subdued the inmate.
The officer suffered a broken foot, as well as knee, ankle and facial injuries.
Two responding officers were also injured.
