A basketball program based in Flatbush has young athletes in Brooklyn striving to be their best on and off the court.
Sports United started three years ago during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jeffrey Beauchamp, the program’s director, realized kids and parents needed an escape and a place to come together when the world felt divided.
"I wanted to come up with something that would have the kids come outside and play and just be kids again,” said Beauchamp.
The season started on April 13, and now the athletes are gearing up for their final game at the Barclays Center on June 2.
