Bed-Stuy residents can enjoy a basketball camp with an educational twist - that includes shooting baskets to 3D printing.
"If I make mistakes, I can keep trying again," said Quearis Mondesire, a young camper.
For seven weeks, the young athletes committed to leaving their hearts on the court.
"I'm learning how to work harder and get better at certain things in and out of basketball," said Milo Alsun.
This program started over 20 years ago. It's called Buckets N Bytes and it was created by Game Over. It's a basketball camp that's incorporating science, technology engineering and math.
"We make a good believe that when he leaves this building he can do anything," said Eric Hicks, president and creator of Game Over Sports and Entertainment.
Hicks told News 12 his ballers can dribble, shoot and learn the game while challenging their minds in the stem world.
"As you watch our kids work out, you'll see our coaches are very very demanding but we're demanding at everything why be demanding about lay ups if I'm not going to be demanding about grammar," said Hicks.
These kids are learning to create these trophies. It's a part of the 3D printing curriculum.
They log in on the computer, start creating images and then begin printing. It's a chance to discover a new passion that parents tell News 12 is needed.
"Our children need opportunities to engage both in there academics and as well as in athletics," said Paul Mondesire.
Besides shooting baskets and tapping into tech, these kids are walking away with more than just new skills.
"It just keeps up learning 'cause if you don't keep learning, then you'll never become great," said Kairo Serrano-McClain.
Game Over basketball camp ends on Aug. 23, so residents have a few more weeks to sign up and learn some last-minute skills.
