A Bed-Stuy landmark is getting its due on the big screen.

Israel's Record Shop, located in a basement on Fulton Street, was the set and inspiration for the new short film "Lazarus," which is currently making the festival rounds.

"Lazarus," from filmmaker Katie Cortesi, is a coming-of-age story about a Brooklyn teen whose life changes because of the record store. Cortesi says places like Israel's give New York its character. She wanted to capture the old school magic of the place, especially since many stores like this are disappearing.

"If you go to a Pottery Barn in D.C. or a Pottery Barn in California, you are going to have the same experience," Cortesi says. "You can go to record stores across the country, you aren't going to have the experiences you have in here."

The movie is screening at the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival on Saturday, May 16 at St. Francis College.
