Police say a Bensonhurst man was killed after crashing his stand-up electric scooter less than a mile from his home.
Ruben Arevalo, 55, struck a defect in the road, sending him flying off his scooter just before 9:30 p.m. on May 17 near 58 Street and 19 Avenue.
Emergency responders found Arevalo with severe head trauma and rushed him to Maimonides Medical Center, where he died.
