A Brooklyn family whose son was killed by the NYPD is being asked by the city to pay for damages done to the police car that fatally struck him. Police say they were pursuing Tamon Robinson back on April 13 after receiving a call that someone was stealing paving stones. Robinson was then hit by a cruiser near the Bayview Houses. Officials have since issued a $710 bill to the victim to repair the car. Robinson's mother met with lawyers today and says she's outraged at the developments. "I started crying and I felt disrespected by what they're asking me to do," says Laverne Robinson. Family members say they plan to fight the city's notice, and are already suing the city for $20 million in damages. The law office working on the city's behalf says they had little information on the case prior to issuing the bill. After learning the circumstances behind the case, the law office says it has put a stop on the bill and will meet with the NYPD's legal team today to further discuss the matter.Family bids farewell to man killed by police car in Canarsie
