Closing arguments are under way in the trial of three men accused of killing an NYPD officer in Prospect-Lefferts Garden.
Robert Ellis, Dexter Bostic and Lee Woods are all facing murder charges in the shooting death of Detective Russel Timoshenko. In July 2007, both Timoshenko and his partner were shot while stopping a suspicious SUV. Timoshenko died from his injuries. His partner survived.
Woods testified Tuesday that he was driving the sport utility vehicle when the three men were pulled over by Timoshenko and his partner. Woods said he was taking out his license as the officers approached when gunshots were fired from inside the vehicle.
Woods proclaimed his innocence during his testimony and said he did not fire a weapon.
