The American Red Cross and safety officials are urging Brooklyn trick-or-treaters to keep safe for Halloween.

The Red Cross advises parents to plan their children?s candy collection route, accompany children under 12 and to have their children walk on the sidewalk or facing traffic. The agency also says costumes should be checked to ensure masks don?t interfere with sight and they should also be flame resistant. The Red Cross says children should travel with flashlights.

The Red Cross claims children are four times more likely to be hit by a vehicle on Halloween night.
