The family says just before 9 a.m., someone found 41-year-old Jason Cosme - who has suffered multiple brain injuries and had gone missing Saturday afternoon - sitting in the middle of the Grand Concourse near Tremont Avenue. They picked him up and called 911.
His mother, Maria De Jesus, admitted that she started to fear the worst.
"I was crying all night, I had a very bad migraine, it was 3 o'clock in the morning, I was still crying at home, because I'm like, I'm home, everyone is home, and my son is just out there with thin pajamas and a sweatshirt and that was it," De Jesus recalled.
Upon her son being found, De Jesus said he did not know where he was.
A friend of one of Cosme's brothers works for EMS and heard that Cosme had been brought into NYC Health + Hospitals Lincoln. He called the family and let them know.
While the family doesn't know who it was that found Cosme and made the potentially lifesaving 911 call, they have a message for them.
"I thank you greatly from the bottom of my heart, that you were nice enough to call 911 and have the ambulance and police bring him here," De Jesus said.
Cosme is in the hospital so that doctors can run some more tests and keep monitoring to make sure that he's going to be OK, but the family says they're hopeful that he'll be able to return home soon.
