Board members at a Bronx senior center complain a second director has been fired after uncovering financial wrongdoing.
The executive board at Bay Eden Senior Center claims Nathan Dukes was fired Monday after refusing to sign fraudulent documents that would allow more funding to be pumped into the center. Members also claim the center mismanaged $20,000 obtained from a City Council member's office.
The agency Aging in America, which funds the center, says the claims are unfounded. A spokesperson says Dukes was fired due to a disagreement over his duties. Aging in America also says the $20,000 went toward entertainment needs for the seniors and updating the phone system.
