The principal of Bronxdale High School resigned from his position today amid allegations of sexual harassment.
John Chase was first accused by teachers and school administrators last July of making lewd and explicit sexual comments toward them. The Department of Education (DOE) decided not to fire Chase, but instead settled on a demotion that he calls a mutual agreement.
The decision has angered teachers, school employees and union officials who say the DOE is letting Chase off the hook by simply reassigning him.
Chase will become the assistant principal of another school. The name of the school has not yet been announced.
