It was a feeling of deja vu for some Brookhaven residents, who say the town's work on snow removal was delayed more than they'd like once again.
With the wintry weather due to continue into Friday, Setauket resident Dan Padrazo says his cul-de-sac on Montpelier Court 12 hours into the system wasn't looking so good.
"Almost everybody here was negatively affected. Significantly affected," he says. "It affects mail delivery, it affects utilities coming here."
A plow finally did arrive right around 7 p.m. as News 12 cameras were in the neighborhood. He was pleased then, saying, "Better late than never."
Other neighbors say the unplowed streets make it impossible to get work or get emergency medical care if needed.
Residents say the unplowed streets problem has happened too many times this year. Some say Town of Brookhaven officials told them the town doesn't have enough heavy snow removal vehicles to get to all the streets.
Tracey Cicale says that is not an acceptable excuse.
"If there isn't an avenue that can get the equipment to get what you need done in your town that you're responsible for, find another way," she says. "There's got to be another way."
Residents say the situation has gotten better since News 12 put the spotlight on the problem with several reports following the Feb. 1 storm.
Brookhaven's town supervisor and highway superintendent declined to comment.
