Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is calling on the city to crack down on an illegal dumping site in East Flatbush that he says poses quality of life concerns for residents.
Piles of trash and abandoned cars sit at what used to be a car wash on Utica Avenue and Farragut Road.
It's an eyesore and safety hazard for residents, according to Adams.
Adams toured what he says is an illegal dumping site on Sunday to get a sense of just how bad the issue really is.
Upon arrival, he saw an abandoned car wash filled with trash, cars that also had trash inside and a slew of garbage spread about a mile down the road.
To fix the problem, he says it's going to take the help of the Department of Sanitation cleaning the area and cracking down on illegal dumpers with fines.
He also says he wants to partner with businesses in the area to put up cameras, in hopes of catching the people who are dumping their trash there.
Along with the dumping site, Adams also toured several others around the borough Sunday, citing it as a bigger issue that he's hoping to fix with the help of the community.
