Voices in Wingate Park are making themselves heard to bring attention to the issue of gun and gang violence this summer.
Vivia Morgan, the director of Friends of Wingate Park, says she frustrated about the persisting violence issues in Brooklyn and that now is the best time to raise awareness.
She says the summer months and their holidays bring out the worst in some people.
The group says violence is an epidemic and they have the numbers to support that. A new study says every single day in the U.S., 19 children are injured or killed by gun violence.
The Brooklyn DA's Office says police busted 18 gang members for being involved with two murders and eight shootings last month.
In response, community members are pleading with families to reach out to teens who may be vulnerable to joining gangs.
