A Jewish community is in shock tonight after a local Brooklyn resident found boxes of sacred items in the back of an abandoned truck.
Moshe Horowitz says he found items including old and torn Jewish prayer books on 62nd Street in Borough Park.
As part of religious procedure known as Shamos, Jewish families pay to properly bury holy books.
Assemblyman Dov Hikind says that the father of the man responsible for the abandoned truck is cooperating with officials. The man says he will pay for all of the items left in the truck to be disposed of properly.
