Brooklyn teen arrested for allegedly raping 11-year-old girl
An 18-year-old Brooklyn man has been arrested and charged in connection to the rape of an 11-year-old girl who was asleep in her bed.
Investigators say it happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at a residential property at Flatbush Avenue and Winthrop Street.
Julio C. Ayala is accused of entering a second-floor bedroom after gaining access through a window and raping the girl.
Police say Ayala then fled through the window, and the victim cried out for her parents, who called 911.
Police were able to find Ayala just hours after releasing video footage that showed the suspect after the alleged rape walking in the vicinity of Flatbush Avenue and Parkside Avenue, and Ocean Avenue and Church Avenue.
Ayala was questioned by investigators, then charged with rape, burglary, criminal sex act, sexual abuse and acting in manner injurious to a child.
Investigators say there's no indication that the victim knew Ayala at this time.
