Veterans across the borough were honored for their service and sacrifice Sunday as people all over the country celebrated Veterans Day.
Dozens of Brooklyn veterans who served in Vietnam, World War II, Afghanistan and Iraq gathered for a celebration in Marine Park. The Grand Street Boys Association sponsored a luncheon in their honor.
The veterans said being with others who have shared their experiences makes Veterans Day meaningful. Many said their thoughts were with their fellow soldiers currently overseas.
Brooklyn is home to an estimated 76,000 veterans.
