A Brooklyn woman made one promise to her brother – she would continue her education.

Octavia Crowder dropped out of high school. That's when her brother urged her to one day complete and continue her education.

At 32 years old, she completed her GED with the Brooklyn Public Library adult learning program this summer. Unlike other programs, students had a graduation ceremony to receive their certificates.

"If your brother were here today, what do you think he'd say?,” asked News 12 Reporter Katelynn Ulrich.

"You finally did it. I'm proud of you. Keep going, keep doing the best she can," said Crowder.

Crowder plans to go to college and study the criminal justice system.
