Since 2015, the Bushwick Community Partnership has been steadfastly opening doors for families in the community.

This vital initiative offers essential support, including free family resources, crucial city agency assistance, and helpful preventive care referrals—with the promise that no ID or fee is required.

"We offer an array of services for children and families to keep them safe and to encourage well being for both children and their parents," says Denise Rosario, executive director for the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services, explains.

The breadth of services is significant, ranging from providing food pantries and mental health services to foster care support and financial literacy courses.

For participants like Esthela, the program has been a true lifeline since she arrived in the U.S.

"Without a program like this in the community, I would probably be back home suffering with my three children. This program has taught me how to access resources and better educate myself so I can get back on my feet," Esthela shared.

Beyond direct services, the partnership builds community power.

Every third Tuesday, the Bushwick Community Partnership hosts a monthly meeting to connect families directly with local organizations, all focused on helping the community move forward.

"Right now, we get between 60 and 80 participants that come to that meeting," Rosario noted. "The more we get more people to the table - the stronger voice this community will have."

Rosario says all are welcome to attend the next meeting on Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hope Gardens Community Center to share concerns, discuss family needs and strategize for the neighborhood's future.
