A Bronx synagogue is reaching out to potential worshipers by way of their pockets.
The Young Israel Pelham Parkway Jewish Center is offering to pay $625 of worshipers' rent or give $40,000 toward buying a home as an incentive to bring people in the community to worship with them.
The president of the synagogue says the plan is not to pay off prospective members, but is a way to revitalize the area. Members say it isn't an isolated program, but rather a common practice within the Jewish community.
