A Bronx woman was arrested Friday on charges that she allegedly neglected and starved her two 7-month-old pit bulls.
The dogs' owner, Gillian Irving, has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty and faces up to two years in jail. Her dogs, named Cagney and Lacey, were rescued from her apartment in February, weighing only 16 and 15 pounds.
A rep for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) says this is the third animal cruelty arrest in The Bronx this year. Both dogs are recovering at the ASPCA Hospital and will be available for adoption soon.
