? Charges have been dropped against the 8-year-old Crown Heights boy whose actions led to the death of an 8-year-old girl.
Prosecutors made the announcement Friday during a short hearing in Brooklyn Family Court. The boy, who was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide, snuck on an empty school bus Monday and released the parking brake. The bus rolled into Amber Sadiq, causing her death.
Sadiq?s family members have said they did not want the boy prosecuted, but felt the bus should have been secured. While the boy does not face jail time, he will be placed in therapeutic foster care with the Administration for Children's Services. His two brothers will remain in the home. Officials say the boy was left largely unsupervised and he had snuck on empty school buses before. He also missed more than 30 days of school.
Sadiq was buried Wednesday.
