City Council approves bill for funding of 6-minute service from MTA

New York City Council members passed several transportation-related bills today, including one to provide six-minute train service.
The specific bill for this improvement calls on the state government to fully fund the MTA in the upcoming 2024 budget.
"Six-minute service would create a faster, safer, and more accessible system for our outer-borough communities like mine, who rely on our trains to get us to and from work, school and city-wide recreation,” said Council Member Amanda Farias. “This is something all New Yorkers need right now. And while we still have time to make life-saving choices, this needs to be included in our state budget."
The bill's passage comes as the 2024 state budget has yet to be agreed on. Twenty-seven days have passed since the deadline for that budget.
