The Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender Based Violence is stepping up to help survivors amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Family justice centers are still open throughout New York City, although how they operate is a little different.
There are currently remote services and limited in-person services in Manhattan and open domestic violence shelters for anyone in need of help. People can also call 1-800-621-4673 (HOPE).
There is also help available for legal consultation and housing. A list of resources for survivors can be found on the city's NYC Hope website.
The city wants people to know help is out there around the clock at no charge.
