A City Parks Foundation program is making a big splash with students.
Coastal Classroom takes students away from their desks and out to Coney Island to teach them about aquatics, restoration and conservation.
The program lets students get into the water for their hands-on lessons.
Manager Luis Gonzalez says the program is an opportunity to teach kids about how to properly restore local beaches and protect marine life.
The program has been running for eight years.
