Con Ed, union workers hope to continue talks Thursday
Con Edison and union workers are set to meet on Thursday in an effort to continue contract negotiations as the employee lockout continues.
Nearly 8,500 workers are affected by the lockout, many of whom protested in Park Slope yesterday. Con Edison has replaced union workers with 5,000 managers.
The company has canceled all meter readings and closed walk-in offices. They say they will respond to emergencies, but non-urgent projects will be limited.
Both sides say there are many issues on which they have not reached an agreement, including changing pension terms.
