Air pollution is dropping as a result of congestion pricing in New York City.

Researchers at Cornell University said particle pollution has significantly decreased since the program took effect nearly a year ago.

They said the improvement is not just below 60th Street but across all five boroughs and, to a lesser extent, the surrounding metro area.

Researchers added the program will have long-term benefits for public health.
