Day two of early voting wraps up for New York City primary

The New York City Board of Elections estimated on X that at the end of day two of early voting, 23,637 residents hit the polls. Across the city, they estimate 66,361 people have checked in for early voting.

The clock is ticking until election night on June 24th in the primary election races for mayor, borough president, comptroller, public advocate and City Council.
News 12 spoke with people like Shivaughn Harewood who says she's going to take advantage of the convenience of early voting.
"The early voting centers are really close to my home. So I can pop in and then go to work," said Harewood.
She's not alone. The New York City Board of Elections estimated on X that at the end of day two of early voting, 23,637 residents hit the polls. Across the city, they estimate 66,361 people have checked in for early voting.
People like Francis Alexander tell News 12 the desire for change is pushing the turnout so far.
"The crime is out of whack that's what people talk about the crime. It's important because we have to know where we stand. We have to know who we're voting for," said Alexander.
Harewood says she encourages her fellow neighbors to get out and vote.
"It really does matter because if you don't vote, then who you don't want will succeed," said Harewood.
